Keep Warm and Dry in the Garden

Gardening in the winter months can be a cold pastime to have, particularly when the winters are as cold as they have been over the last couple of years. Wearing the right clothing and footwear can, of course, make a difference. A British winter requires two things: clothing and footwear that will keep you warm, but also keep you dry. Unfortunately, finding items that are both waterproof and warming is not easy. For this reason, many gardeners will opt for layers – one to keep them warm and one to keep them dry. Keeping your body warm is relatively easy but having warm feet is much harder to achieve. Nevertheless, it is important to keep all of your extremities warm, which includes the hands, head and feet, in order to stay insulated all over. Many gardeners will wear a pair of wellington boots while working in the garden because they keep the feet and lower legs dry. However, they material that they are made from makes them cold to the touch and putting them on can make your feet even colder at first. One successful way of getting around this problem is with a pair of Welly Warmers, which make great gifts for her this Christmas.
Welly Warmers are like a large fleecy sock which can be used to line the inside of your wellies. Really soft and cosy, they allow your feet to stay lovely and warm, while the wellington boots keep them dry too. Although they are sock shaped, they are bigger and a looser fit than a normal sock and so can be put on easily. Using these soft fleece liners will turn your wellies into toasty warm boots.
Another advantage of using Welly Warmers is that wellington boots generally have quite thin insoles. The reason for this is so that they can dry out quickly should any water get inside them, however this also makes them a bit uncomfortable for prolonged use. Using Welly Warmers gives you some extra cushioning for the sole of your foot, meaning there’s more chance you’ll stay out in the garden longer and get more done.
Available in two sizes – small (UK 4-6) and large (UK 7-9) – these are an extremely attractive item too, making them wonderful gifts for her for any lady that you know who loves to garden. You can choose from the different designs of fur trim top, which will be visible above the top of the wellington boot. This thick faux fur cuff will also help to trap the heat inside the boot and warm your legs too! We have gorgeous faux fur designs available in leopard or zebra print, as well as the soft and furry chinchilla. Our fleecy tops also include bright pink and bottle green. As well as being extremely stylish and adding a bit of glamour to a boring wellington boot, the fleece and faux fur tops of the liners will also help them from slipping down while she’s working in the garden.
